M.I.A.

So yeh, it's been way to long between posts and if you've been checking my blog out I'm grateful but also apologetic as it has been well and truly neglected.  This is my attempt at trying to get more proactive when it comes to updating this site.

The shots above were from over two months ago now (old in the cyber world), but you may not have seen them.  Captured at Desert Point by a new friend whom I met on my travels, Tom Hawkins, these sum up a bit of what I was getting up to.  Check out Tom's site for more of his photography and come back here again soon for more shameless self promotion!

Ain't No Pretty. ft Nicholas Chalmers from Matt Neilsen on Vimeo.

My good friend Matty has been getting his documenting on of late and I've been his subject.  This is a clip from some little crap waves yesterday morning of me riding my 7'0 pin tail single fin shaped by Purch Jnr.  Take a look at Matt's new site here.

Slide

A shot Peto took of me riding his hull from earlier in the year at Lennox scored a double spread-type-thing in the latest Slide Magazine.  Nek minnit...stoked.

Once was lost, now is found

A fin (centre, big blue thing) I designed once upon a time popped up on Crawley's blog.
Based it off the tail of a jet.

A little old in the cyber world but better late than never (maybe)!

Filing SUX

Editing a clip for the world wide web starts today.  Sifting through 30-something gig of footage begins.  Stay tuned for "(haven't decided on a name)".

Lost Neville

This is the trailer to Kai Neville's new film Lost Alas.  It makes me depressed seeing what guys my age and younger are doing on surfboards these days...makes me feel like an absolute kook....the truth hurts haha.  Inspires me to want to
1. Travel more.
2. Surf more.
3. Shoot more.
4. Edit more.
5. Travel more.
6. Hang with my friends more.
7. Live more?
Maybe that's what ''livin' the dream is'' then?!

A little bird....

....told me that it was flying around a shaping bay on the weekend and saw my freshly shaped board waiting to be glassed.  My first wave on a NPJ Quartet blew my mind...literally...it nearly exploded sending my brain into a kazillion little pieces for the dolphins snack on like peanut butter and jam on toast.  From that day forward I knew I needed one. Alas me being all Mike Myers in Wayne's World (see above) "She will be mine, oh yes, she will be mine!"

Lo-Fi Attack!

Lo-fi is so passé.
(Jokes :) Calm down!)

Frame grab from my first ever surf movie Grom Attack, 1998.

Bizzy as someone who's really bizzy

Have been doing NONE of this lately.
NONE = shooting photos on film + surfing.
So so busy.
So so busy = neglect of this "blog".
This photo is soft.
photo = Out of focus snap of the Roach Approach surfing the nose,
shot on a camera I picked up at a garage sale.
This is all.
This is all = more to come soon...got to breath first.

AQUA BATS

Aquabats - Alaia's are hard to ride from Johnny Abegg Films on Vimeo.

Johnny Abegg aka me + 6 years (We share the same birthday and several other creepy things) made this little clip with footage we shot of each other 2-something years ago surfing an Alaia for the 1st time.  The piece of timber was hand shaped by Dain Thomas.  The session was a blast.  Paul Mc created the artwork for the clip.

ZE CLICHé

My friend Brandon just spent a few weeks 'down under' filming for a project he is working on involving 70's-esque surfboards. Here are a few stills he shot from the water on a couple of cloudier days. Top to Bottom: Ze Lucky Chalm Spitting, Lucky Down Under, Panda Spotting.

BLAGHC!!! Fat CAT!!!!

Blaghc!!! (pronounced Black) is the new Black. It's a the avant gardé of the art world today and me and my friend Merry invented it and covered my new board in it. Good England.

This is a new model Dan Macdonald (DMS) made me a couple of weeks ago that I finally got tonight. Basically I wanted a short, fat, fun shortboard and this is what he whipped up and dubbed the 'Fat Cat'. Matty rode the 2nd one of this model Dan has ever made and he says it's the best board he's ridden all year. Hope mine goes as well as it looks.

One 9th of 9Lives Pap
